How it works
How to remove PDF metadata
Strip hidden author, title, and other Info fields — and drop source XMP by rebuilding the PDF — free, no signup. Page content stays the same.
Use this when publishing reports, redistributing client files, or reducing accidental information leakage. Creation and modification timestamps are removed with the other Info fields.
Privacy cleanup steps: How to remove PDF metadata.
- Upload the PDF to Remove metadata.
- Review the metadata fields listed for removal.
- Click Remove metadata and download the clean file.
- Compress or protect the output if you need a smaller or encrypted copy.
Why browser processing & tips
Why process PDFs in your browser?
Most PDF sites upload your file to a remote server first. That adds wait time, queueing, and means your document passes through infrastructure you do not control. LokaPDF cleans PDF metadata entirely in your browser — file content is not uploaded to our servers. Sensitive author names and edit history stay off shared copies. The tool works on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, and Android with no install.
Client deliverables, public reports, FOIA responses, and any PDF where hidden properties should not travel with the file.
Tips
- Metadata removal is not redaction — visible text remains.
- Re-export from Word may re-add metadata; run this tool on the final PDF.
- Opening the cleaned file in another editor and saving again can reintroduce Producer or ModDate — scrub the final export.
